North and Central Manchester Scooter Club was created to the fact there isn’t an actual Manchester based scooter club ! The club continues to go from strength to strength after another brilliant season on the north-west scene.
Ride-outs, fund-raising do’s, regular meetings – the club and it’s growing number of members continues to show why its one of the most popular in the region.
North and Central currently boast over 1k Facebook members, and that’s not bad for a club which has only been going in its current form for a few years.
Initially started by Graham May in 2012 as North Manchester SC, the club shifted focus and base two years later to the Derby Brewery Arms on Cheetham Hill Road in the city,we have now moved to a city centre base the Old Nags Head that has been associated with the scooter scene for a very long time and is only 3_5 mins walk into the city centre with the aim of trying to stretch its arms out across a slightly wider section of Manchester.
We hope that this is a successful decision, as the amount of members the North and Central club now boasts would indicate. There’s no committee at the club, no joining or membership fees, and no ‘number one’ so to speak.
Graham has a network of dedicated friends and volunteers who help organise and arrange -but it’s a collective effort that has helped turn the club into such a success.
“There’s no snobbery at our club,” says Graham.
“We welcome anyone to our ride-outs and meetings, whether they’ve got a scooter or not, and the ones who have scooters, well we don’t care what kind you’ve got either. We’ve got people joining us now who never fancied being part of a club. Those people are staying with us and that makes me feel quite proud.
Throughout the year the North and Central guys and girls meet every other Monday, and during the season there’s regular ride-outs to rallies and meets.
The club also puts on live music-based fund-raising days and evenings.
